Opening Saturday, September 12th 5 – 8 pm is Finding Buoyancy, a new series of encaustic paintings by Elise Wagner, created from her studio perched out over the mighty Columbia River in Astoria, Oregon. This space has shaped her recent work, immersing and permeating every aspect of her compositions, anchored physically by a buoy that is steadfastly tethered in place, marking passage while keeping navigator’s safe. This small man-made structure, has become metaphor for Wagner, who’s attention has been captured by what she considers to be a symbol of resilience, orientation, and the ability to remain afloat amid uncertainty. Elise will also be giving an artist’s talk Saturday, September 19th, at 2:00 pm, join us to learn more about her process, inspiration and career. The exhibition will be on view through October 5th
